    Select Softball

The select baseball thread always gets alot of attention and is very interesting to read.

So, who has a little girl playing in select softball? Where? What team? Age? Class? Position?

Mine is playing catcher with 10u Mojo Ultimate out of Denison. Just got done with our 2nd tournament this year, took 2nd. She's been catching for a few years now and has really come along. Couldn't be more proud of her. Moving her up to 12u rec, but staying at 10u select to keep learning fundamentals.

Good job dad!! My oldest has played select since 10U and now is playing RF and 1st base at Blinn College. My advice is give them a break and don't push too hard. We have seen several kids get burnt out due these reasons.

Mine played selected from 10u into college at UTSA. Let them have fun especially when they are younger. Give her breaks when she wants them or needs them. Let her play other sports, it is one of the best developing tools. Like said above, they can get really burned out. By the time my daughter got to college ball she was physically worned down & burned out

For sure. We don't do the travel every weekend thing. We are going to try 1 a month to get a feel and make sure we're in the right classification. Our rec ball is nearly done for the year (6 more games and eos tournament) and we'll move into volleyball camps just to give her something new to look at.

Awesome, miss those days. Mine is a freshman at TLU in Seguin. Supposed to be playing but sitting out with a medical issue. Hopefully she will be able to play next year. Enjoy these days, they go by quickly.

My wife and I coach an 8u select and 12u select teams. Plus my 8 yo is also playing league ball which we coach as well. Very busy time of the year! We are a big proponent of kids playing multiple sports and trying to keep it as relaxed as possible. 12u plays two tournaments a month and 8u plays one.

Daughter started at about 10-years old and played thru HS and college. Decided her senior year of college that she was done after the season and never wanted to see a softball again.

LoL that lasted about 1.5 years and she has been coaching for about the past 7 years, now for past 5-years as the varsity coach.

My youngest started in league ball in kindergarten. We always discussed @ the first of the season that she does this for herself, because she loves the game, not because we wanted her to. But if she started a season she had to finish it. She played league ball until 12U when she went t select the next year. Finished up her senior year and decided not to play in college. She wanted to concentrate on her school work. A decision I applauded. Worked for Me & Mom.

Two daughters here, 10U and 14U both playing for Lady Lynx at The Farm League in Spring. 10U is catcher and 1B. 14U just had knee surgery for torn meniscus but was 1B.
                    It's a grind for sure.

She just completed the fall on JV for her future high school as an 8th grader (little known UIL rule)

I have heard of this, but doesn't it take a year away from her eligibility in high school?

My daughter Started when she was 6u playing T ball
Then played 8u both years and went into select team that formed from her all star team.

The team didn't last long, COVID basically killed that team. She decided to sit out her 9 year old year, and went back to league her 10 year old year and wanted to start pitching. She has been taking lessons for a little over a year and is made such a big jump in talent.

I think after this league season is over we will be looking for a select team close to Huffman-Crosby area.

Those girls play some ridiculous schedules! Such a fun game to watch.

My buddy's daughter is finishing up her Sr season at Richland HS, and signed to go play for Cisco College in the fall.
