    Game Warden Question

We were at Lake Corpus Christi over the weekend and Saturday morning we woke up and found a dead deer that got its head stuck under the fence between us and the neighbors.
Called the game warden to come dispose of it but said that he could not come out to dispose of it (said for Multiple reasons, the main one being disease) and that we could dispose of it.

My question is: Should a game warden have come out to dispose of it, or is it the property owners responsibility?

I wouldn’t think this would be in the GW’s purview, nor should it be. Let nature take its course.

I would agree, but it was right in our front yard and didn't want 100 buzzards around.

We have always been told to call the wildlife biologist for the area. They could take the CWD samples and inform then what to do with the carcass.

I think you did right by calling the game warden but once he tells you to handle it then it’s yours to handle.

doesn't seem like a job for law enforcement. sounds more like animal control duty. or in east TX, backstraps for breakfast.

Since the deer belongs to the state. They should come get their deceased animal. Unfortunately game wardens don’t do anything unless they can write a ticket and produce some revenue.

They are probably required to test it if they come out mess with it. I always see all the dead deer around us painted blaze orange to mark them as being checked.

I imagine it would be less hassle for you to remove it and drag it off.

Property owner issue. Definitely smart to call before you did anything though. At least it's on record.

Dead deer on private property, no fowl play involved. Why get LE involved?
Call game warden when a dead squirrel shows up? Armadillo?

On Lonestar Law they always do things like that all the time. Just goes to show how much that show is full of $ hit. He probably wanted to sleep in.

It is 100% made for television but Instill watch it. I hope the wardens that are in it are being compensated $$$$ handsomely..
