Certainly not a wardens job to come remove dead animals from a property. Some may do it to be helpful, but far from a part of their responsibility.

Agreed here. You offered due diligence by making the call.

My question is: Should a game warden have come out to dispose of it, or is it the property owners responsibility?
What did Mr. Green Jeans tell you? There's your answer

In Kendall county nether AC or highway department will remove a dead deer from
The road way much less a yard, I usually have to get a rope and drag them to the
Intersection when they start to smell before they will remove them

The deer do not belong to the state. They belong to the residents of the state, and TPWD is only a steward.

I think the bigger issue here is that the GW wouldnt hande the deer because of potential "Disease", but it is ok for him to tell you to handle it!?!?!?!?! Drag it off and move on with your life

Warden was likely down on the border working.

Dead deer at state park last year, 10pt vs auto.
Game wardens words where you can do whatever you like, we will not load up and discard any more due to CWD.
If said deer was a 170 BC probably would have been a different story.

He’d probably reached his fuel budget for the month.

We need game wardens. Enough said.

AGREE and then figger out how to modify fence so it don't happen again

More than likely special assignment a the border. I've had the opposite. I've seen more game wardens in Leon County over the last 3 months than I have in the previous 18 years.

I am not going to tell a GW how to do his job. But making the call was definitely the right thing to do. I suspect if the deer had been shot he would have come out. I can tell you this, if I found a dead Buck on my property and GW told me to dispose of it as I see fit, I am probably taking the horns. Not sure if that is legal or not.

Are a lot of the GW really down on the border? That really sucks for them I would think. Sucks it has reached that point down there.
