    I used to go with direct mount but since using rails, I prefer them. Gives me more adjustment away or towards my eye. And, they're just as solid when done right.

      True, pros/cons. I did use a rail from Mountain Tactical on my Tikka Roughtek. It has a boss on the front that fits into the hole in the front of the action. I use loc tite on the rail to the action, none on the rings. Torque to spec. All my Tikka's are great shooters.

          I traded for a superlite and I believe it had Talley direct mounts on it

            I have Talley mounted directly on the rifle, no rail. I have a Tikka T3X Super Lite in .243 Win.
