If we lose one we keep them locked in the chicken coop for several days before turning out again
Same with coyotes here, they come snatch one out of the yard and will return daily to get another

Well, had a big (as in yuuuuge) chicken snake in the chicken pen this evening. Caught him leaving and looked like he had feasted on some eggs... First one we've ever seen in the chicken pen since we got our chickens... There are some that have been living in the barn not far away, but they never messed with the chickens... I've always gotten along with them, but this sucker met his end this evening... My grandpa always said once a chicken snake finds a chicken house, he won't stay away... He got a piece or re-bar across the back of his neck right behind the head. Was a 6+ footer. Hated to kill him really. I think they are neat snakes, but can't have 'em in the chicken house...

I have plenty of fertilized eggs here in Bend in anyone needs some. We get about 7 per day. I'll date and start them in an incubator so someone can get 20-30 at one time.
