all these CR threads and I made the mistake of looking into going... Don't know if it's good or bad that I have enough Marriott points for house rental but the airfare from DFW was like $1k/ticket. Trying to figure out how to convince my wife we need to do this over thanksgiving instead of driving over to her parent's house

Congrats on a great trip.... We've been to CR 3 times now and have loved every trip. One thing we learned is there is a direct flight out of Houston on United. So that was how we flew.
CR is an amazing country, it would be a nice place to live for a while.
Like the OP, I also can't recommend a trip to CR enough.
