I grew up in Alvin. Joes was the place several years ago. Actually, 30 years ago, Joes was one of only a few non-fast food places to eat at in Alvin. If you were lucky, you might have even had a Nolan Ryan sighting there. I'm sure like any other mom and pop type of place it's probably gone down hill over the years. I haven't been there in years. In addition to BBQ, they used to have a different buffet each night...seafood, mexican/fajitas, etc. I remember it being one of the first places I ever saw a BBQ stuffed baked potato and the Beef ribs and chicken fried steak were decent. It's probably still one of the better places in the immedidate area, which really doesnt' say much. With all of the options for BBQ these days, I don't think I would go out of my way to go there.

It went down hill after Joe handed it over to his son and that’s been since 2008 I believe! It went down quickly but was held together by the long time employee’s Joe had. I will not go in there and waste perfectly good money. It’s just the memory of the name that keeps it going and of course people who have lost their taste buds. I think Joe’s was best when he was still at his processing shop ( Salidino’s)on hwy 6 and 99.

I grew up in Pearland and both my parents worked in Alvin so we ate there a lot. It’s not as good as it used be. It’s ok bbq, don’t get me wrong, just not what it once was.
Me and a buddy were talking about it just the other day. He told me he goes in there at least once a week for their steak.

Pre-Covid they had a really bad a** Breakfast buffet right next door, but the Rona shut it down, and it hasn't been open since. Man, they had Everything: ham, bacon, those steak fingers with white gravy, 3 kinds of scrambled eggs, all kinds of fruit, a lady making omelets how you want them, etc. etc... We ate there more than the main restaurant!
The BBQ was good, but when we went, my big a** got the dinner buffet. It was the only place I knew of out side of La. that had frog legs on the buffet. Yeah, I'd hurt em', but they shut the dinner buffet down, too.
Maybe it wasn't Covid, and I ate too many frog legs and omelets on both buffets that killed their profits and shut them down?
