    Joes BBQ in Alvin

I had to go visit my Mom last Monday in the nursing home in Alvin. My brother and I went to Joes for lunch and had brisket, chicken and sausage. Is it just me or was Joes better several years ago than they are now? I’m not a BBQ snob but there was absolutely no flavor to the brisket or smoke smell at all. It was tender but that’s it. The chicken was good but again nothing suggested it came from the smokers. More like rotisserie chicken. The sausage…..well it was just sausage. I tried to dress it up with their sauce but it was to vinegary for me. I’d go back cause it’s still a nice place but I expected more.

It was probably a grass fed cow, chicken, and pig.

I first at there about 8 years ago and have had it a few times since. To me, it’s already been just OK.

Big Horn in Manvel, while nothing spectacular, is a good bit better than Joe’s is in my opinion.

Tried the fried shrimp next time, the best around, in my opinion. And there is a lot of seafood restaurants closer to me than joes.

Me and my wife would stop in there a couple of times a month. We also noticed a difference the past 2 years. The food doesn't have the same flavor and smoke it once did in our opinion.

Right.👍👍 I’m slow to slam other restaurants because I know too well how that feels. And I’m not slamming now. The Saladinos built a great business and has always been ran with family pride just like Stanton’s. Many restaurants offer items that aren’t that appealing to some but the rest of the menus does. I’m definitely gonna try their shrimp next time.

It was great before it was sold.

Only thing I ever get there in the stuffed potatoe. It's pretty good.

Not really a fan of store bought BBQ anyway, dam sure not waiting in line for any.

My family and I have been eating there for over 30 years. Yes it used to be much better.
Like already stated, their fried shrimp are very good.

I’ve lived within twenty minutes of Joe’s most of my life. We went a few times when I was a kid, but I bet I’ve been there less than 10 times my whole life. (That’s not counting breakfast at the banquet hall, I’ve been there quite a bit) There are just too many better places in the area.

East Texas BBQ is subpar in general.
