Grass fed then finished on grain for 60-90 days. Prefer dairy steers for butcher. Good beef cows make the cash.

Grass fed will have marbling, but most grass fed folks don’t let their calves finish nearly long enough…

I think the best is free choice grain on good grass pasture!

Grass is tougher meat, leaner....if trying to eat healthier, eat more wild game versus buying terrible grass fed beef.

              I prefer whatever HEB has!

Guy I work with raises Wago beef, or so he says. They just eat grass or hay when he buys it. The couple he has butchered doesn’t have any marbling at all, like the ribeyes have less marbling than the cheapest cuts at HEB. He’s wondering if the people who sold him his 3/4 wago lied.

Wagyu- is just a breed of cattle capable of producing deep marbling throughout. But if you just have them on grass I would think they would be tough as well. I do know someone that raises them- been fortunate enough to get to eat a few steaks- He has them in small pens to restrict movement and feeds them out for 5-6 months if I remember right. Never had better honestly.

Grain fed 100%. Grass fed has little marbling. My buddy has a custom he feeds them out at the ranch and takes them straight to the butcher from the ranch. No feedlot. The difference in taste is amazing. He says the stress of trucking and feedlots affects the meat. I believe him.

I think their is a misnomer in “grass fed” marketing because Ive had true pasture raised beef also. Healthy as hell but in terms of tenderness its closer to deer meat than regular beef. Ive seen “grass fed” beef at the butcher with lots of marbling and was very tender.

We only eat grass fed, the reason is because the grain in grain fed is pretty much all bioengineered grain. Not the way God designed it. Same crap in our foods that we don't eat either.

Done both with our cows. We prefer to finish on corn and feed. What matters to me is knowing what we inject them with and that it wasn't within 90 days of slaughter. We don't give a lot antibiotics unless really needed, so only 8 way and ivermec
