I ran a meat market for over 25 years and I would guess that it was probably about 65/35 split with beef selling the most tonnage. When you throw in hamburger meat, the beef % goes off the chart. Only way pork would out sale beef was when I had a hot add for some type of pork chops or pork butts / Country Style Ribs.

Some of you guys have never tasted real pork like us old farts had growing up. A fried pork chop from forty years ago ain’t the same as one now. As for ribeyes forty years ago, you would have to ask somebody that had more money than I did, ‘cause I couldn’t afford them back then.

NurseJenn and I agree perfectly. Bacon > Beef >>> Pork

That’s because those hogs ate good slop. And, porkchops had a bone in them. Boneless porkchops like you get now are crapola.

                I started buying pork steaks.

But question is if beef and pork cost the same how much more would beef be bought over pork? 90%?

Oneeye's wife sells some mean pork chops from their raised pigs in MN. They are freaking good!

Thread has results now. Most are Beef 9ish and pork 6/7ish.

Of course, like anything else a good cook can make anything taste great. Not sure why anyone has to bring that up. Just assume you have the same talented chef and then what would you choose?

You sir lost all credibility when you put ‘chicken fried: beef’.

As the late Ralphie May once said, ‘everyone loves fried chicken, because it’s fried f’n chicken!’.

If you really wanted to step it up a notch, make it fried chicken livers and gizzards.

In his defense and there is not much to defend in his poor choices, the question is pork or beef. [emoji23]. He can at least follow directions even though he’s wrong a lot [emoji23]

I did like how he said chops were better as pork but steak was better as a beef ribeye. They are pretty much from the same cut, the center loin, on both animals ….just called different names…. and the ribeye is king.[emoji23]

In my defense, I eat pork chops bone in and fried, bone in and bbq'ed (on the grill with bbq sauce) and boneless, tenderized and fried, on a biscuit.

I eat a ribeye one way, grilled over charcoal with a heavy sear, rare.

It's a coin toss on a fried bone in pork chop versus a ribeye.

You may disagree, but you need to come to the South and try real Southern cooking.

My dads side of the family is from Montgomery. I’ve had plenty of Southern cuisine and prefer Texas. ..as does he. . They hate pork and chicken ..beef is king

What is BBQ’d on the grill? Sounds like grilling.[emoji12]
