I think looking back is healthy for some of us. I’m certainly in no position to brag…but it can provide quality perspective…I hadn’t looked at those numbers in a long time until yesterday. I doubt those numbers tell anyones whole story anyway. It’s like my momma says “it’s not where you are, it’s how far you’ve come”.

I don’t judge anyone based on their income, but I’d sure trade home places with you, sir![emoji16][emoji1360]

Also, I doubt anyone around here is about to flame you!

I’m sending you a PM about an entirely different subject, sir.

I can promise you I'm not bragging. I'm kinda sad after all I've put my body and family through for the past 35+ years.

I live in a modest house that I built 50% myself and both myself and wife drive 11 year old vehicles. I tried to dump as much as I could into my retirement so I can get the hell out of the Houston area asap!

              For some maybe.

I haven’t and won’t answer. It can give a person drive to work harder. Or make a person more proud of their accomplishments. Lots of different reasons. All kinds of different folks here. Of all walks of life. With all kinds of income.

I refused to sign up for Medicaid and paid the hospital bill off in less than a year. Good thing, because I was back that next year doing it all over again. Thank God I learned how to earn.
I was a genius and had my daughter soon after I turned 17. Not a wise move to say the least however, I refused to be a govt dependent, and we busted our butts and put our nose to the grind and worked. Bought our 1st home at the ripe old age of 19 life wasn’t easy, and we ended up divorced. But neither of us were about to rely on someone else to cover our responsibilities. She is now an attorney and I’ve worked my fingers to the bone like an idiot to survive 😂 but I wouldn’t change the decision to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps

😂 you ain’t kidding on that

As for the topic…not the faintest idea. I know this, I took the hard road in life, but I chose it and went down it full steam ahead I hope my kids learn from my mistakes, and find something they enjoy doing and stick to it. If college is needed, so be it. If a trade, jump in with all ya got and learn everything you can and soak up wisdom from the seasoned vets and be the best.

This thread did none of that by the way.

I guess there comes a time in everyone’s life where they end up on the other side of the “generational” conversations. Appreciate y’all reminding me I’m getting old! [emoji23]

I actually don’t think it is an age thing. I believe it is more who you surround yourself with and the trust level. I have customers who I have very candid conversations with regarding money and business. Some of them for many years. Business owners share a lot with people they trust and can use that those conversations to help them make their company more valuable. I guess in thinking about it, I apply that template to my personal life.

According to the SSA, I'm working on number seven, but I may hang it up before I get there. Sure wish I knew where it all went. What I do know is that while being taxed in both the US and Canada over the last 5 years, I've paid well over a million in taxes over that time. And I don't really feel like I've gotten a satisfactory return on that investment from either government.
