I picked up a second property here locally which will hopefully change the game for next year with more options. Will pick up a third property if I find one or it falls in my lap. Permission properties at that and both right on the edge of town. Last year was just a lackluster for me in life in general and really didn’t have the drive to get in a tree as much. Looking forward to October though.

The deer are hammering all my feeders and feed troughs in Angelina county right now. I guess they decided to come out of hibernation.

Yep the bucks are heavily on protein the last 2 weeks.

          Since the Christmas freeze here.

With green up happening, that might slow (hopefully $)

Congrats Corey. Hell of a season. Always enjoy this thread. Still stumped on Leon Cty this past season. Heck even until today just not seeing much of anything. Been hunting this county for 30yrs and this one has me wondering? Record year for armadillos is all I have to offer!

Was up at our place Friday. It's GREEN deer are powering thru some protein. Seems the pigs came back around as corn feeders emptied.

                And it's still wet

My wish is to have less acorns this next year lol. Acorns made for tough hunting this past season

I'm in again for next season. This one was very slow on my small lease. I'm hoping to go up soon and do some scouting and hopefully time it to pick some Mayhaws.

Took advantage of the milder temps and got started on some brush mowing. I got a LOT done, but even behind this front it was WARM on Saturday afternoon (3.5 - 4 acres behind a self-propelled brush mower is hard work as it is).

Anyway, I got what I wanted to do done so everything going forward should be easier (should being the operative word).

I know deer season’s 6+ months away but I’m already excited about whats to come.

This time of year is always a tough one for me. It's the time of year that I LOVE doing everything that I enjoy doing. Crappie spawn, then bass spawn, can take off waders and wet wade the salt flats, bull frogs bunch up for mating season, shed hunting, habitat work, tree planting, all of these things are better this time of year. Work has me working 14 and 1. [emoji849] I've done very little of any of it so far. I did go catch a few crappie a little over a week ago, have planted 400+ swamp chestnut oaks, 102 sawtooth oaks, 300+ persimmon, 10ish wild peach, and 14 chestnuts. These will be planted in the ground this fall, what I don't plant, I'll try to sell. Found 1 shed on a quick walk about, and scouted a few frog holes. I need to be cutting, hack/squirting some trees out at the land, but might not ever get to it before it thickens up too much this year. Also have plans on getting a mulcher in the woods to open up my little duck hole a little bit. Anyhow, super busy time of year, and it's my favorite.

Looking forward to this season. Surely it can’t be as bad as last. Had 4 bucks 5+ and all disappeared early October and never returned. Ready for velvet pics to see what will be around this season. Between my home bucks leaving and the HAG monster recovery dilemma last season was just a big downer.

I did manage to pull out the 30-30 and tag a great buck at work.

Right now I’m enjoying some spring time bass fishing!
