Welllll. Let's just say I watched this dude get his picture taken this morning. He stopped right there, looked up the hill at something and walked to about 22 yards still looking. He turned to eat and I was taking up tension in the D loop. He didn't like what he saw and walked to the other side and into the brush. Saw him skirt my ground blind with no shot in the youpon...

oh well. Always next time Click image for larger version

Yes - we do think it is the same buck also. Wild he’s thrown the drop on completely opposite side.

We are in Rusk Co by the way for those that have asked.

I plan to be in the Stand all next weekend so will keep everyone posted.

Rusk County drops some studs every single year. Cherokee, Henderson, and Anderson are right there with them.

These are our two best ones. We are in Van Zandt County. Have 8-9 different bucks on camera. Most are young. Don’t have a picture of a single doe. Have videos of both deer but too long to post.

Don't know why the little 3pt got in there, lol.

Do y’all think this buck cracks P&Y or falls short? Really good beams but average on the tine length and mass. I think he may only be 3.5 in diff pics he looks a little older but I’m no expert.

No. If so, it would be just barely.

Wow, thats a nice 8 point.

Looks like he nearly has 13" between his brow tines. Haha

This week is looking pretty promising with the weather getting right and based on the scraping and chasing activity I saw this weekend (on camera and in the dark of course). Anybody else going to hunt this week?

Had a great time in the woods yesterday. Got in the stand about an hour and a half before sunrise because of when the bucks had been coming into this spot. 5 minutes after I get set up a big boar came grunting and snorting through. Then sunrise cam and......nothing. Front started blowing in and went from sweating to kinda chilly in about 10 minutes. About the time I was going to get out a 4 point chased a die through, then a small 3 chased another. Then 2 doe came to eat, then a button buck and another small doe. Finally got out of the stand around 11:30. Ate lunch and headed back at 1:30. Saw the button buck again an 3 doe as well as real small 6. Man it was great being in the woods yesterday.

I get to play guide for the next couple weeks until my wife can get one, looking forward to bringing the family along now

That's a great buck aggie hunter! If he makes you happy I hope you get him. He does look like he could be bigger with a couple more seasons though.

Going to try and get some time in a ladder stand this week in Houston County. Hoping this front keeps them moving.

I am seeing a lot more activity during the day the last couple of days. Not see the big boys on cameras yet, but seeing young ones during the day now. Hoping to sit in the woods and maybe see the mature bucks roaming around.

At the end of the week and weekend I am going to be hunting with a couple buddies in Madison County. Not counting on a lot of activity there. Don't see much on cameras at that lease.

And right on cue, the weather this weekend looks like it's going to suck (again). I guess it wouldn't be opening weekend otherwise. LOL
