Looks just fine to me Geoff!! Scrape those little ones n boil 'em with some snap beans!

We had our first mess of snap green beans today for supper along with fried cabbage and our first two squash fried... venison hamburger steak... everything out of the garden or freezer!! Was delicious and VERY satisfying to eat!

We put up a batch of broccoli and will do some cauliflower tomorrow. Got another big dishpan of blackberries today off the wicking tub plot... sprayed the other one for bugs and fungus with strong neem oil and liqui-cop... be a couple of days before we can pick that plot again... It's loaded down with berries too!! Only blooms so far with peppers and maters... about to have a boat load of various types of squash and zuc's...

      Onion question..

I watched a video and they cut the leaves of the onion to about 6 inches tall. Has anyone done this and what were the results? I cut a few of my plants and they have started putting on new leaves. This should mean that they are adding more layers to the bulb.

Harvested most of our broccoli and cauliflower yesterday. Wife blanched most of it and we put it in the freezer. Probably put a second (or really third) round of squash in those empty bags... I clean forgot to take any pics of the harvest, but really, believe me it DID happen!!

            Hey I have a question for y'all...
We have an apple tree we planted back in '15 the first Fall when we moved out here. Every year for the last 3 or 4 years it's loaded with little apples. They taste really good, but we've never done anything with them. Anyone have any suggestions what to do with them. Up to now, they just eventually drop on the ground and rot... The tree is inside my dog kennel so no other animals can get to 'em. I was told by a friend that they were "Texas Apples". They're small, about the size of a tennis ball or less for the most part. Green with reddish upper half when they ripen. There's a bunch of 'em this year.

Never tried apple preserves... We had pear trees growing up and my mom made pear preserves and they were good. I bet apple preserves would be even better!! Gonna look into this too!!

Guess I better go eat one or two of them and see if they're "ripe"... Don't have a clue when they're supposed to ripen. In the past, they got to about as big as a tennis ball, look ripe like just a small apple, then next thing you know, they're rotten on the ground...

Question for you guys that use neem oil for pest control, do you use it when close to harvesting vegetables? I was reading about it on the internet and read that it can cause the fruit or vegetables to taste bitter if sprayed within a week of harvest. What say y’all?

I use an apple butter recipe for canning my juju berries and it’s great. I’m sure your apples would be fantastic as apple butter Charlie.

                              I

Garden is doing good. Dodged a March freeze and damage from a hail storm last week. Yellow and starburst squash along zucchini are producing steady. I’ve never had tomatoes so bushy. They have been setting strong. Potatoes are growing great.

My peppers are just ok. They seem to be lagging compared to last year.

I have a row of sno peas producing.

My green beans are struggling this year.

What’s going on here? Everything else in this box is doing well including the squash plant right next to it.
