This a couple of my red potato tubs that are sitting next to each other. They haven’t flowered yet so I don’t think they’ve matured yet.
    Is this a fungus?
    Can it be treated?
How can I stop the spread?
How do I prevent it from happening again?

Geoff, looks like either too much or too little water to me... I had a couple bags do that last year. I shot the water to 'em and a little fertilize through the drip emitters and they perked right up. Yours are a bit farther along that mine were though... May just have to harvest those couple tubs...

I planted 6 Prime Ark Freedom fruiting primocane THORNLESS blackberries late spring last year and they grew well (no fruit) so I propagated some last fall using the split container method and some using the buried vine method. Both propagating methods took off and this spring had about 20 new plants to transplant from the original 6 plants. The original 6 plants are putting on fruit like crazy. Already picked enough for 2 big cobblers.

Man those are some big fat berries. I am still adapting to being able to just reach anywhere without worrying about stickers.

I got 2 pumps going the morning after we got that 2" of rain and salvaged the in-ground garden somewhat... English peas are still trying to make it as are the pole beans... Supposed to get another 1 to 1 1/2 inches tonight... sure hope not!! Even so, the bag garden continues to flourish as do the blackberries...

We did our first batch of blackberry jelly this week. Got 7 1/2 pint jars of jelly and put 5 quarts of berries in the freezer. Now have almost 3 gallons more of the blackberries... Those will go into the freezer tomorrow. The cool part is that they are still just getting started... The older plot has not even reached it's prime yet. Still lots and lots of blooms plus we must have 30+ new primocanes that are over 4 feet tall already. Those will begin to bloom in 2 or 3 weeks and will continue to do so through Fall/early Winter...

We harvested several cabbage heads this week and my wife made her grandmother's old recipe for "Chow-Chow"... Been a loooong time since I had eaten any, but she and I destroyed our first pint last night at dinner time. We had pan-fried deer steak, Purple Hull peas from last year's garden, sauted broccoli/cauliflower from this year's garden, fried cabbage from the garden and I slathered that Chow-Chow all over the peas... MAN IT WAS SO GOOD!! There is no telling how old that recipe is... What was cool to me was that it used measuring terms like "1/2 water bucket of green tomatoes"... We weren't sure what "conversion factor" to use to convert that to something we were familiar with but we winged it and mixed it in with the 6 heads of cabbage and "1/2 can of pickling spice" and 4 big onions and "4 hot peppers" along with 4 1/2 cups of "pure cane white sugar"... It has to be over 100 years old! Still made a dang good relish for complementing vegetables though!! Gonna be good with fried fish too!

Over the past several days, I finally got cages made for all the rest of the bags that need "trellising or support" I caged all the peppers, tomatoes and egg plants. It took 3 1/2 rolls of field fence wire cut up into short pieces of 9 sections each to make the cages... My old hands are so dang sore from "snipping" all those wires then bending them together!! They look good though now once installed.

All the squash and zucchini plants are really taking off now. Some have reached the top of the 4 foot wire cages and are covered with beautiful yellow blossoms. Hope we have enough pollinators! Found our first germinated squash today. It's a round green one called 8-ball... They are great for slicing/frying or grilling!!

We are at a lull now for a bit, just watching things grow and picking a little each day. We're cutting broccoli every day now and cauliflower about every 3rd day. Bok Choy, runnin' out our ears, but my wife discovered a way to actually freeze that stuff and make it "fried" like regular cabbage. It comes out tasting like nice greens like collards or mustard. It's delicious sauteed in a skillet with some bacon and onions!

That's cool!! We had a good batch of new plants started last Fall from cuttings, then went out of town for a week and we lost pretty much all but 3 or 4 of them. I got 3 or 4 new plants by the buried vine method too and the plot we have growing in wicking tubs, I've started several new plants by burying the ends of long runners in a new tub. Hope to be more successful at propagating from clippings this Fall when we prune. I have another TBH'er that I have to send clippings to as sort of a swap for some seeds he sent me... Was hoping to get that done this Spring with plants, but it was a dismal failure...

Be sure and keep your plants well mulched if you have them growing in the ground. We let the grass overtake our first plot last year and it was a booger bear getting it cleaned up, but once we did, their growth just doubled... we now have "volunteer" plants coming up from the roots whereas before, the grass/weeds kept them choked out.

Also, I do not like our "trellising" using cattle panels... On YouTube TP2 (Texas Prepper 2) has a video on a wire trellis that I really want to switch to. I've seen others like it and it seems to work well while being not so restrictive as the cattle panels. I'm hoping to make the switch this Winter once they go dormant where we can prune and remove the cattle panels without damaging the new canes too much. That is a cool idea. I water my dog kennel that way. We have a metal roof so there is sufficient condensation overnight to drip enough dew into the gutters on the back of my carport to keep the water bowl full. I seldom have to put water in the kennel.
