    Chainsaw problem

After the winter ice storm I filled up the saw with new premixed ethanol free gas
And it wouldn’t run 100% , took it to the repair shop :
Guy says “ there’s the problem ethanol free gas “
    I never heard that before
He gets it running again and I refill the tank with pre mixed and it will not run
    Back to repair shop
“ bet you put in ethanol free ? “”
WTH is this guy talking about! Never heard that load of nonsense ;(

A local repair shop tested a bunch of the premixed cans and said many are bad, some have very little oil, some have bad fuel. These fuels are responsible for ruining many 2 stroke engines. I have never had an issue myself, but I try to always mix my own if not in a rush. I do buy non ethanol gas and good VP oil.

I bought one can of the pre-mix. Saw and weedeater ran hotter, burned more and didnt run as good. I went back to running e-free and blue stabil in all my 2 stroke stuff

It did take 5 pulls instead of 3 to crank the stihl saw back in december. It hadnt ran since feb of 22'

Ethanol free is usually better. Ethanol is known to gum up lines and orifices in carbs if sat for long periods and disolve. IDK why he griped about the non ethanol part. I never use the pre mix i just mix my own. I always mix it rich and never have a problem. Little extra oil is better than not enough in most cases.

Are you pre mixing your own or using the junk in the can already mixed? We run ethanol free in saws daily and have for years, that excuse doesn’t hold water. I’d mix up fresh fuel and let it warm up and set the air mixture screws and run the snot out of it. The air screws are super easy to set if they need tweaked.

Is it possible that your fuel line in the tank may have a hole and not allowing enough fuel to transfer?

Repair shop is ignorant in his comment. Can the commercial premix be incorrect in the gas/oil ratio, maybe, but highly unlikely. Info through hundreds of gallons of 2-cycle each year and would absolutely use ethanol free if I could afford the increased cost of it and the transportation costs to get it (nearest station is 40 miles). At the rate I use 2-cycle, the premix isn’t a smart fiscal decision, but I do buy the premix but the gallon for the deer lease.

I don't trust that can gas. E-free from the pump and mix myself. We use the stihl fuel in all our stihl saws at work and seems ok but I sure don't trust the off brands.

Read the can from Stihl, packaged by TrueFuel

I used to buy TrueFuel by the pallet for work. The guys in the field were burning up quickie saws daily until I started giving them the pre mix.
They would put a bottle of oil in a 2 gal. gas can & thought they were mixing it correctly. 100 to 1 ratio v/s 50 to 1 didn't run long.

^^^Get outta here!lol^^^ Well there ya go! Surprised we ain't burnin' up saws!
That's why our dept. went to can gas...so many of the numnums they hire these days couldn't figure out how to get the mix right. Seen stuff way worse than that too.
You hang around here very long you'll be feeling like a **** genius in no time!!
