My Stihl saw had been running fine off a gallon of True Fuel I bought 6 months ago. I ran out and bought 2 small bottles because they didn't have a gallon. My saw wouldn't start at all. I drained the fuel and refilled out of the other bottle and it finally started and ran fine. I tried to run the other stuff again and it wouldn't start. I ended up pouring it on some ant piles. Maybe they've had some quality issues.

Allegedly there are people who purchase TruFuel from big box stores, empty half the can, fill with water, then return the can to the big box store.

When I buy a can of TruFuel, once I get home, the contents get the paper towel and lighter test.

From some of the stories above, it sounds like your TruFuel has been compromised.

That is just pure "SORRY POS" material right there. There is a special place in hell for a guy like that.

Isn't there a safety seal on the can? The style like coke bottles use?

No problems with self-mixed ethanol free gas nor the cans of premixed …weedeaters, blowers, chainsaws etc. I also run ethanol free no mix in my generators and the 2” water pump for the deer lease totes.

Sounds like he wants you to go back to ethanol because it’s good for business.

                  Im a small engine mechanic
Do yourself a favor and never go back to that clown.

My guess is your chainsaw carb is old clogged or not set right. Those sit one year without use and the gas can clog the jets.. many are too small to service.

A new carb is like 25$. Of it were me I'd buy a new carb and plug from that oem mfg and give it a pull

                    Agreed!

I buy the Amazon carbs that come with a service kit. I don't use the spark plugs in them, but other than that, I've had good luck.

                      That's interesting.
Sometimes I mix and sometimes I buy premixed.
                      Always ethanol free, though.

                        I'd find a new mechanic.

We run chainsaws almost every day between four different crews and buy the pre mixed fuel in the big 5 gallon cans. All our saws run just fine.

I ruined two power heads after learning the lesson as well. Stay away from the premix in the can.

Somebody explain to me why NOT to use the pre-mix in the can. I used to mix it myself and always had problems getting it started. Was told to use the pre-mix instead. Haven’t had a single issue since. Bet I’ve run 6 gallons thru my chainsaw so far.

EF and Stihl synthetic. Some things sit for a year and still start right up.
