    Another zero turn question?

Looking at the Scag 52” patriot vs the John Deer 54 72OE.
John Deer quite a bit cheaper. What’s so good about the ScG over the John Deer. This will be used on about a 4 acre lot. Thanks in advance

IMO Scag is just more commercial all the way around but not that easy to work on if you do all the maint and work yourself. I bleed Green when it comes to Ag tractors but i would look elsewhere for a zero turn.

I would suggest going and looking at hustler and a few others. Its also worth it to spend a little more to get into the commercial lines in whatever brand you go with.

I have 2 older bad boys although they have been great I'm not sure they are as good and hard to get past all the extras they want to promote. I would look hard at a Hustler if i upgrade again.

Also heard good things about ferris, bobcat, and spartan

I bought the Scag Cheetah II 60”. It’s OK. Throws a lot of belts. I think if I did it over again I would get a Ferris.

Just by name, I'd say "everything" about the Scag is better. But they all have so many different lines now, it's hard to compare one to the next. I wouldn't buy a Deere ZT under any circumstances.

I would look at one with suspension on the front wheels. Ferris was the 1st to do it, but I understand many mfgs offer it now.

I have a 54" Hustler Super Duty, and it's been a great mower, but I used a Ferris with suspension a while back, and it was a VERY nice ride.

Scag is a good mower. Make sure to get the Kawasaki motor.

Buy a Ferris and never look back.. None better.
The independent suspension is WELL worth the extra
            $$$$... I mow 8 acres a month with mine..

Every time I see one of these threads I feel the need to share my personal experience. I was set on buying a Scag, until I rode a Ferris. I’ve had a Ferris for 8 years with the Kawasaki 27 horse and it’s still as strong and solid as the day I bought it.

Budget would be your only limiting factor, but go ride a Ferris if you can.

Scag had a recall on those pulleys for several year models. Mine threw a belt couple times first year and called the dealer about it, that's when he told me about the recall. They changed the pulley and never threw a belt again.

I vote Ferris as well. I've only had mine about a year and half but no complaints so far.

Buddy has JD 4 years no issues. It’s just a sharp blade to cut grass don’t need to spend 8k

to get the true benefit of Scag you need to step up to a model with the Velocity Plus Deck!

I didn't shop Deere but I did shop Scag, Kubota, Ferris & Hustler and a year later I'm still very happy with the decision to buy Scag, I have done nothing other than change oil and blades.

I bought a Scag Tiger Cat II 52" last year. I also looked at the Scag Patriot. For the difference in the money it made since to go with the Tiger Cat. More commercial. Great mower!! Previous mower I had was a Dixie Chopper. It was a good mower. But they don't make them like that anymore. Ride is great on the Scag.

There is no way that you and your fishing buddy could afford the same mowers
