I'd think it would be cheaper and that the tube style feeders would offer better protection against the weather?

No doubt Hammer makes a nice unit and are good folks, but I chose what I chose for the stand and fill option and I didn't already have gravity units to add the Hammer too. The most I want to climb these days is maybe into the bed of my truck.....no more ladders for me. Plus like I said above, I came across two in the TBH classifieds that were well priced.

That makes perfect sense and I didn't even consider that the trough feeders were stand and fill. I'm a HUGE fan of no climbing these days as well!

Loved my Hammer timed unit. I like them better than spinner into a tray. Unfortunately Harvey ruined my mechanism when the heavy lid of my Krivo blew off and feed all got wet. Converted it to gravity feed on it now.
It’s tall but holds a lot.

Yup. That’s why I use the two 600lb ASF timed protein stand and fills. I definitely prefer the stand and fill versions over the tall ones.

Looks like I will be purchasing a protein feeder.
Which is better ASF or Lamco?

Lamco is better. ASF is cheaper.

I have a 1500 lb Lamco timed trough feeder. It’s almost brand new. It’s only been used a couple months. They are $1,800 new. I would be willing to sell it for $1,400. I just decided I don’t need it. I already have 2 trough feeders running

These are the absolute best money can buy. ASF can’t compare with the trough feeder. I can have a dozen Axis deer feeding at the same time. You can’t do that with an ASF.

I’m not trying to sell it, but if you need one like this OP I’d be willing to and save you about $500

Will it fit in the bed if a pickup? I know they have a pretty big footprint.

Yes. You just turn them upside down.

My vote is for 1 free choice protein, 1 timed protein & 1 corn feeder in the same feed pen. Whatever you do make sure you put the protein out when the deer need it most, Jan-June.

Ridiculous pricing … No way in hell. They could starve before I spent $3600 on two feeders for my two feedpens to make more room at the trays. They can stand in line or go find mothers natures offering on the LOs 4100 acres. [emoji23][emoji23]

Lol. Making them wait in line can create shot opportunities. Just make sure the line is broadsided to your deer stand.
