I’ve moved my 800 lb lamco by myself. It’s not fun at all.

Smart and AC ride lamcos brand too hard

ASF gets my vote. I’d lean to lamco if they were more reliable.

My protein feeders are ASFs, Pasquale... Humper and another member have the Lamcos I help fill.

I figured if I said I preferred the ASFs you'd come in here guns a blazin telling everybody how much better the Lamcos are because you own one...

I’m a fan of timed protein. It allows me to feed year around without any days the feeder being empty. Plus the coons can’t empty it. Lol

I understand. Leases need to have an estimated budget.

My numerous feeders are on private property. We have ASF timed feeders for economy, a Boss buck and krivo free choice in conditions like this.
No raccoons and small total number of deer makes my dollar go further.

No coons? Man that would be nice. Since May 2015, we have removed 482 of those suckers on my lease and they keep making more.

I genuinely prefer the lamco design. But man they have issues! Maybe ASF and lamco should team up

I have two 1000# Boss Buck protein feeders on my place in OK, and I was forced to add Hammer timers in 2020. The deer were emptying them in less than two weeks, and I couldn’t keep them filled logistically or financially.

It’s just me and my youngest son hunting, and that was a huge financial commitment to only take a buck or maybe two off the place.

Just curious why you guys seem to prefer the timed trough style feeders over a tube style feeder with a hammer lower unit? I've been considering adding a protein feeder to my small family farm and my initial thought is that the hammer unit on a tube style feeder would be the best option. I'd think it would be cheaper and that the tube style feeders would offer better protection against the weather?

My place is on a river that floods, so any kind of stand and fill feeder isn’t going to work well. I was already using the Boss Buck tube feeders, so the Hammer timers just made sense for me. In my observations from using these protein feeders for 6 years now, I’ve had 160-180 class mature bucks stick their noses up to their eyeballs into the tubes to eat, so I don’t see how a “trough” type feeder could possibly be any “better”.

Hammer system has been amazing. With rising fuel and feed costs it was a no brainer for me to go that route. It’s worked extremely well.

Can you convert the ASF Gravity Feed to timed? Just curious

Yes, depending on which one you have. They sell the pro Evo electric kit for the conversion.

Gotcha, I’m going with the 2,000lb gravity feed and knew they were the same feeders (gravity and timed).

If yours has the square void access then it will fit. You do have to cut out some to fit but it’s super easy.
