Salty H20 2023 Thread- How Salty Will You Get??

We've had some that just turn out weird, dunno if it's the animal and maybe their stage of molt or whatever but we did a batch of maybe 10 or so last summer and there were two of them the meat was shrunken and watery but the rest were awesome. Usually I'll just boil a claw or two in my jetboil when we're camping at duck camp and those always seem to turn out great. That's always in January in colder temps of course.

Both big claws weighed 6.5oz but one had much denser meat than the other. The one with less dense meat wasn’t very tasty.

I like the jetboil idea! Doesn’t get fresher than that! On the boat with fishy mullet guts in my finger nails should compliment the sweetness of the crab[emoji23]

I've noticed some variation in tastiness sometimes too. Did you cook them same day they were caught? We boil/chill ours asap.

I did not boil these until 2 days later, I kept them in the fridge so that my have been the difference. I dropped the biggest claws in 2 minutes earlier than the smaller ones. 8 min boil, 8 min in ice water.

Stacked up right now. But as soon as I can, I will be out there. Maybe hiding on Shane's boat. I would be fishing alone being he jumps out of it to fish.
