I Think I Need A Boat

Never had anything but a little Jon boat or a canoe. I’m moving near lake granbury and think I might need a boat.

I know if I get one I want to fish, tube, and probably just putt around the lake. I’m not a huge fisherman but I do like to run juglines, crappie fish, and I’ll chunk a bass lure every now and then. I would also like to do some bow fishing and possibly use it for duck hunting. Duck hunting is probably at the bottom of the list for use, but gotta throw it in there lol.

Is there a good do-all boat for this kinda thing? What HP should I be looking at? I’m kinda thinking a pontoon might fit the bill decently.

Also, I’d say a max of 4-6 people on it at once.

I saw a good looking center console there at Tim’s Marine on 144. It’s a 18 footer with a 90HP mercury. Looked pretty clean.

Get some fast grass on a pontoon, grill breakfast and watch the duck decoys. Center console or pontoon.

I'm gonna go ahead and try to talk you out of a pontoon, never met anyone who bought one who didn't change their mind afterwards. Shop around, test ride a pontoon and some other stuff and see what feels best. I loved my pontoon, built it from scratch with a center console and flat open deck for hauling but totally different use case.

I did say that was at the bottom of the list…. I wouldn’t have any problem with a decent sized Jon for duck hunting and river running.

I guess I should have put in the original post: my woman also wants a boat for recreational purposes.
