I need some mini split advice

Ok guys I have read through every old thread on mini splits that I can find. I have read about everything from Mr. Cool to Mitsubishi and everything in between. I am building a couple shops (20x30 and 16x20) that will be insulated and I am going to put mini splits in both of them.

Now it seems like most mini splits work fine for a few years but what I want to know is from those of you who installed them 5+ years ago how are they still running and what brands did you go with. Are your Mr cools still getting it done or are the Mitsubishis and daikins the only ones that are lasting?

    Thanks for any help.

I am in the HVAC field and work on and install these all the time. I don’t touch anything but Mitsubishi, LG, and Daikin. Those are going to have the most readily available parts, but they still aren’t “readily available”. Maintenance is key with these. Cleaning filters is critical. And the blower wheel is going to grow mildew, it’s a guarantee. Keep that as clean as you can along with cleaning the outdoor unit and you should be fine.

I install Mitsubishi and hardly ever have parts break. When they do go out it’s usually a board, and that always seems to be after lightning storms, so spend a little extra and out in a surge protector and you should be good to go.

          Mini Split

What do you spray on them to keep the mold down? Also do you recommend putting those tabs in the line ? I own some and try to keep them as clean as possible. Or should I pour bleach down that line? I had a guy come out awhile back and he did some service on some for me and also had to level a couple I had problems with. Just wanting a little insight is all.

          Thanks

I installed a 12k btu Gree with heat pump about 6 years ago, no issues since then. It just keeps working.

Typically we disassemble them and clean. I wouldn’t do bleach because the fan is plastic. Vinegar can help or there’s cleaning kits online

I have 3 Mr. Cools in two buildings going on about 5 years. Customer service is non-existent to totally worthless. Do Not Buy Mr Cool. Cry Once/Buy Once.
