The Spyderco Sharpmaker is kind of like a stick sharpener in reverse. Instead of a locked blade and moving the stone back and forth, the stones are locked in place and the knife is moved.

I have one and it it works. It is quick and easy. I usually like a stick sharpener if the knife is really dull because it is a little bit faster in setting the edge angle. For a very quick touchup, the Spyderco is great. For extra money you can buy an additional aggressive diamond stone to remove some metal more quickly to set the edge for about an extra $60.

Work Sharp is a very good sharpening system, but if you don't spend the time to learn how to use it properly, you're gonna ruin a knife edge or 2, and that's a fact.

I have a chiefs choice that I’ve been using for years and it works great. It’s an electric countertop model with a course and fine.

For a minor touchup I use a Warthog and finish on a paper wheel. For mor serious work I use a Lansky.

We have one of the chef’s choice sharpeners and it works fantastic. Ours has 3 different stones on it.

                  Chef's Choice Electric 3 stage @ 20 degrees - and a Lansky ceramic 4 rod for touch-up at 20 or 25 degrees

I got a gift card from my sister, pulled the trigger on a Work Sharp precision adjust , three piece, coarse, fine, ceramic
Diamond should work on anything except tungsten carbide blades

When yall say edge, are you saying 20° on each side or 10° each side? I ask because my WorkSharp has 40° and 50° guides. It appears to be 20° on each side.

                      Thanks for the info.

After looking around I ended up ordering the Work Sharp precision, we shall see how it does.
