I already have a couple of small stones I use in the field to put a quick edge on a knife, now I'm looking for a sharpener to put a little better edge on a blade. Currently looking at the Work Sharp precision adjust one (not electric). What all do you guys use?

90% of the times, my knives stay scary sharp with light maintenance on a strop or steel
Those grits are my favorites 600 and ceramic, love a toothy blade stropped on diamond spray basswoodLast edited by S-3 Ranch; 12-26-2022, 11:08 AM.

This one—-and a good pocket steel to touch up the edge. I keep my steel tucked in my back pocket during field dressing, and touch up the edge with 12-15 strokes about 4 or 5 times during one field dressing session. I worked at a slaughterhouse as a teen and learned the value of the steel—it doesn’t sharpen, but cleans the congealed fat off the edge and touches up any rough spots.

Ive got a 2 sided stone I leave at the deer lease. Its coarse on one side and smoother on the other. With a steel afterwards you have a pretty sharp knife. I want another stone like that, but I dont know where to find one, and yours looked about the same.

I use this https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/D...-P248C127.aspx , and it works great. I sharpen a lot because I use my knives a lot...hunting...plus we raise and harvest our own chicken, ducks, and turkeys, and some knives I use on vegetables.
