What Conventional motor oil do you use

Question regarding Conventional Motor oil did or are you using. I have a 06 4.7 V8 engine in it with 224,000 miles. I have always been a fan of Pennzoil. I went to high mileage a number of years ago. I have recently been told by a couple mechanics and a parts store person. That Pennzoil was a very low quality motor oil. Also to never put high mileage in your vehicle unless you have a lot of miles and leaks. High mileage oils weren’t recommend. My question what type of conventional oil did or do you use. I was told along time back. I had too many miles at the time to convert to synthetic oil.

I used to run castrol or mobil 1 when I ran dino oil. I always heard pennzoil was sub par but never really why.

If you have been using it for a while and hit 224,000 miles, just stick with it. Lots of hearsay out there. Change it on time and any oil is good that meets specs.

Super tech from Walmart is some of the best you can buy. Check Project Farm YouTube for a comparison. Their oil filters as well are top notch

Never used anything but Mobil 1 in my 6 different Accord. Change it about every 7000 miles. Rotella in my Cummins 5.9 since 03.

Use Mobil one in my 1997 S-10, over 300,000.

I use Mobil 1 in my truck and Castillio GTX in my other vehicles. I used to be a mechanic and Pennzoil always had a lot of foam in it. That’s been 20 years ago, but I steered away from Pennzoil after that.

If you want to research yourself, request a sample kit from Blackstone Labs, take a sample of your oil at the next change, and send it back to Blackstone who will analyze it for you, tell you what metals are in your oil (Because all engines shed metal), and can generally give you an overview based on their historical data of similar engines how good of condition your engine is.

There are lots of opinions, many not based on actual facts out there. For example, Motorcraft oil in my car breaks down really fast, despite being full synthetic. Castrol and Mobil 1 both last a lot longer than Motorcraft. But this is specific to my Mustang, and not all engines in Mustangs perform the same with the same motor oil.

I am someone who holds onto vehicles forever. The up charge of Mobil 1 has been worth it. If you trade in every 2 years, prolly not.
