Are these junk? Academy has a two pack on sale for $99 right now and I'm intrigued. I don't use cameras often and figure they'd get swiped on public land but twofer 99 is PDG.
I've had one 3 years that works fine, just eats batteries. Dad had one that had issues, sent it back to Trail cam pro and they replaced with the soalr panel model, that solves the battery issue but he is having problems with it not sending pictures now.
I won't buy another one but for that price and the public land application it is probabaly a good buy.
I had one that worked for a couple seasons. I did have to update the firmware about once a month though. It would stop sending pics, I would go update it, then it would start working again. During the 2nd season the info strip across the bottom stopped working, so I just took it down and went back to using my regular cams. I got what I would expect out of it for what I paid.
I know Tactacam is supposed to be better but honestly my Spypoints are more reliable. I'm sure I'm the only one who thinks that but that's my experience.
I have two of them . One has been really good one I have had to update the firmware twice . The one I had to update firmware goes through 2 sets of batteries In the same amount of time the other camera does . For 99 bucks they work alright. Even if they stop sending pics they still work pretty good as a normal game cam .
They suck. If you gave me one, I would give it to some one else. We have 5 on our place and it's barely possible to keep 2 of them working at a time. At some times none of them are working.
Thanks for the feedback yall, sounds like it's probably not messing around with unless I'm just goofing off with them. $99 will buy me a couple good steaks or some broadheads so I'm probably better off with that.
I have two that are probably 2 years old. Never had a problem with them and I keep them up. They do use quite a bit of battery if you set them up to send a lot of pics, but when I scale them back they last a long while. There’s decent cell service where I have them at my camp, but won’t work at all at my house (no cell coverage at all).
