That makes it appear that the only mistake was the Air Boss who deviated from standard protocol and the briefing.

Realizing that it is a preliminary report and could change but…

When I first saw the videos from the parking lot, it finally appeared as though the P-63 was well outside of its intended track following the Mustangs. Now it seems like he was following a command of the guy in control as was the B-17.

I've refrained posting to this point and have nothing to offer as far as the incident. I was good friends with Mr. Barker and still close to his family/kids. Bad deal all the way around. I'm sure I will get more reliable details in the future. But for now, prayers up to everyone involved.

VFR means the weather is good enough that non instrument rated pilots can fly. Ain't got nuttin to do with traffic. Traffic is ATCs job. The guy in the fighter was in a hard left bank in an airplane notorious for poor vision. He just couldn't see to his right
