It's finally that time of year again! Time for a week long trek north into the Midwest for a group of Texas bowhunters chasing big deer during the early November rut!!!!
Travis and I took the annual trek north back in July to get things done for the work weekend to make sure things were ready for our hunt this week. We moved a few stands based on intel on deer movement from previous years, built a few new ones to install in new locations that show promise and fine tuned some tried and true setups that have produced year after year.
The work weekend started with a stop at the famous Miles Inn for a Charlie Boy and a Schooner. Unfortunately, GJ was unable to join us for the summer trip, but we did buy him an extra Charlie Boy to bring back to Texas with us...unfortunately, the Charlie Boy didn't make it out the door and was consumed on the premises!
Once we finished meeting up with Mike and Jack, we made our way out to the farm to start the workload on the punch list in preparation for the hunt
After day 1, we were fortunate enough to catch a summer cool front and enjoyed the campfire outside. Also had the chance to score Dan's biggest deer to date which resides in the farm house and it was a palmated beast! Scoring just over 167 with 5.5" of mainbeam and a G-4 broken off of one side!!!
