I saw your idea and already had a big magnet with a small hole in the center of it. I drilled it out a little larger and it worked perfect on my Lamco.

This was discussed also once I realized the shaft needed some relief. We were eating lunch near a Dollar General so we whipped in there for a couple $4 biscuit pans. Definitely didn't find the .88 cent ones Smart has but LO was footing the bill I do think a magnet with a hole will work also. Did you notice any reduce power of the magnet trying to hold the spinner plate or shaft? Shaft is brass and the spinner plate coupling aluminum so would would think it wouldn't be too effected by the magnet.

I tested it a few times and didn't notice any difference in power, probably for the reasons you mentioned.

You’re gonna get a pic of a coon on the ground holding that magnet with one hand and eating corn with the other…. Lol

That would not surprise me at all with those suckers.
My next option that I had laying around was securing one of those metal/mesh strainers you put in a sink.

Thanks all for posting. I'll be adding the pan to both of my Lamcos in a few weeks. Great idea Smart.

No problem with shaft clearance? The shaft on ours sticks below the bottom plate about 1/4". That's why my first magnet attempt didn't work.

If you really want to try the magnet, drill a hole in it to clear the shaft. Magnets can be drilled.
