There was one 2 years ago. Wiped out all but 1 or two cabins on the east side of the cut and a bunch of floaters on both sides.

I could imagine it all washing up on the beach during a hurricane. If it took out your beach house who could you sue? I would think the word negligent should come to mind. Kind of like burning trash during these red flag warnings. You know what can happen.

Major oil spill? If electric pitch they have 0 hydraulic fluid. If hydraulic pitch it will hold about 60 gallons of oil. The gearbox does hold a bit but those never seem to leak.
Those are high paying jobs, I would definitely consider leaving my power plant job to go back into wind. Those offshore jobs are the most sought after.
My buddy @ ConocoPhillips is very excited about this !
He thinks the wind farms in west Texas where he is at are basically a dud with poor results.
800+ foot tall windmills with 300 foot blades seems unreal but doable

Texas definitely needs more electricity for industrial use , and with everything right now being 50-60 years old supplying the grid 24/7 / 365 @95% , any suggestions seem like a good idea

And then they'll still get wiped out.

It's like a triple scam. Everyone knows it's a scam.

What could go wrong? I mean they can't build them on dry ground and make them profitable or heck even close to break even. Lets try to engineer and build them in freaking salt water where hurricanes come through..... Yea! That will work

One of my first disappointments coming into Rockport the day after Harvey was seeing not a single wind turbine down outside of town.

We need more nuclear power plants.

I bet Pelosi’s husband has stock in the company that will manage them. The first 4/5 hurricane we get will fold the blades and they will have to do much more PM on them from the saltwater/air environment.

Im all for it if taxpayers dont foot the bill for any of it. Lots of structure for fishing and spearfishing.

Would be nice if they were out deeper though.

This. Hate looking at them over the land.

Friend of mine had a cabin on a spoil in Roloff’s Cut that got flattened. It’s directly across from all those wind turbines on the Kenedy

Setting aside durability and efficiency, note that it is only the Gulf being proposed. Joe knows this wouldn't fly on the West or East Coast. If his admin was truly committed to this idea, these turbines would line all coasts. But, while the left might support "Green Energy", they don't want them messing up the view of their coastal waters. So, it's political grandstanding.

I am tired of paying for them. And my Texas skyline being dotted with lights and white roads thru native pasture.
