    Wind farms in the gulf?

What are your thoughts on this? They’re ugly as heck anywhere but at least maybe they’ll decrease the encroachment on all of our properties in Texas? I don’t like them anywhere and I would hate to see a bunch of windmills out while fishing, but I’d rather them be out there than in my back yard I think. Not sure.

How will they hold up in a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane? Will provide tons of fishing structure though.

I don’t know all the ramifications, but we need the power, no denying that. If we have to have wind farms, that’s probably as good as any. I’m not a saltwater guy, if I were I might feel differently.

Can you imagine all the lures and bobbers trapped in them

The gulf is a MUCH better place to put them than where they have been. Geographically, they provide more consistent wind, and blow in peak times rather than off-peak like current facilities. If we can have well rigs all over the place, I don’t see why we can’t have windmills.

Though, I don’t think wind and solar is the solution long term regardless. Nuclear takes that prize.

Looks like they are going to be 24 miles off the coast. I don't think them guys are using bobbers.

First hurricane will wipe them out.

My first thought, but then I realized that they will just over engineer them to the tune of about 5x times what they cost now, and me and you will pay for it........

Wait until the first couple fail and there are major oil spills. I can only imagine trying to find cranes not only to install them put to work on them as well.

Lots and lots of structure for fish. I’d rather them be out there than on land.

What happens when the first Cat 4+ will be interesting and directly effect all insurance rates most likely.

There's probably a hundred of them on the Kennedy at the land cut that have survived more than one hurricane.

How many hurricanes have hit the Kennedy shoreline since they put those turbines up? I can’t remember a hurricane making landfall there since those turbines up in the early 2010’s?

                              They will survive smaller hurricanes.
Major oil spill? If electric pitch they have 0 hydraulic fluid. If hydraulic pitch it will hold about 60 gallons of oil. The gearbox does hold a bit but those never seem to leak.
Those are high paying jobs, I would definitely consider leaving my power plant job to go back into wind. Those offshore jobs are the most sought after.
