Has anybody used the little evaporative coolers you plug in and fill with water? We lost our last shade tree to the freeze and our bedrooms on the far end of the house. Don’t really want to add a window unit or have to vent a hose outside if I can help it.

What would be a good portable unit to cool a 2 car garage? Not cold but looking for just cool enough to workout in it?

They do condense moisture out of the air so you’ll with have to run a drain line or frequently empty the reservoir.
Slew: I also have a portable swamp cooler that works okay for the garage so long as you’re sitting close to it. I don’t think it would be good indoors.

Have a 14k works great..Some are picky about outlet hose height...esp if they are drainless..I used mine in Hi top chev van it would make the outside sweat it got so cold inside...Beware of how to drain when purchasing...some are reservoir (manual dump) some drain hose ..some are drained through ac vent hose...

I don't see anything wrong with a window unit, you raise a window, take off the screen, secure it and seal around it. Hope it doesn't come to that but they cool pretty well in a pinch.

Window unit is cheaper and circulates air better, but if you have little windows like my house most of them won't fit. I'm also looking at the portable units for that reason.

Ours ran for a week straight. When I put it away I opened the drains and not a drop came out.

I had one a few years ago that would only work if the room was already cool. If it was over 80ish the compressor would not come on. Now the compressor will not come on at all. POS. Lol.

Need one for my deer hunting camper on my land. Already have 2 ac's but this heat lately is brutal.
