oh man, I've pulled off the inside cover and the coils/fins were pretty good. A light frosting but not bad at all.
I've put it all back together and put the meat back in.
guess I should have taken pictures when it was off. It is a Kenmore elite upright deep freezer. has the control unit on the outside.
I replaced the parts and left the cover off and ran it awhile and the fins seemed to get to get iced/frosted more. So I turned it off and defrosted what was there and put the cover back on and loaded it back up with meat.

I’m betting only the top coils are frosting. If so you have sealed system problems.
