Pizza Hut Delivery...Delivery charge - should we tip?

2. you take a job where part of your salary is dependant on other's good will you deserve a lesson in life.

3.am not into subsidizing others paychecks when there is more than enough markup in that restraunt to pay for the "free" delivery.

I would think the margins on pizza are through the roof. I quit having pizza delivered because of the cost. I mean for $20 bucks I can go to Outback.

i dont mind the tip..but charging me for red pepper at 99 cents..thats crazy and yes pizza hut does this now.

I drove pizzas for a couple different places a few years back, and the bottom line is that the consumer is paying for delivery, whether the charge is added or built in. If you go to a place that doesn't "charge for delivery" and pick up your own pizza, you are paying for delivery you didn't get.

That pizza guy is making around $5/hour in wages. The IRS allows a deduction for business mileage of something like 40 cents/mile (that's probably low, I don't care enough to look it up). That IRS deduction represents a REAL cost to the owner of that vehicle. If he drove 5 miles round trip to deliver your dinner and gets to keep all the delivery fee, he comes out a whopping 50 CENTS ahead.

Short answer, tip the guy or go get it yourself.

He'll get the deduction if he claims the income.

My point was that the deduction gives an idea of the driver's cost to make that delivery.

These days when you order a Pizza for delivery from "Pizza Hut" they add a $2.50 charge for delivery....I normally tip $3.00, but on top of the delivery charge it seems a little much.....

It turns a $10.00 pizza into an $18.00 purchase....what do ya'll think?

I am still going to tip my normal $3.00 but wanted to see what ya'll think.....
