    B4 hunting adventures

I know I’m new here but I do feel like I need to post this review. I went to Colorado city to hunt with this outfit. It all started pretty well. Good communication and easy and accommodating. I guess I also need to add my friend and I were on a management deer hunt. Where it first seemed strange was getting to the ranch and seeing there were at least six hog hunters sharing the property. I didn’t love the idea but hey I figured they knew what they were doing. First afternoon we are dropped off in our respected blinds. What was somewhat disheartening is the “guide” seemed to be lost the entire time he was driving. Well we get dropped off no big deal I saw 4 does and no bucks. My friend did not see a single deer from his blind and his feeder seemed to be very low on corn, due to the fact the “guide” had to go manually knock corn loose. At the end of the first evening we get back to the lodge where we get our very first meal of the hunt. Now the website says 5 star lodging and meals. And this was 8 pm and we had been there since 10 am. The lodge was nice enough about right for dudes on a hunting trip. Second day starts we get up and no breakfast just head to the blind. I saw maybe three does and my friend saw a couple does and that’s it’s. We are now starting to wonder a little bit about this place. I also want to mention that we were using blinds that hog hunters had sat in the night before. The “guide” picks us where he tells us about his nap he took while we were out. Ok whatever I don’t really care what he does but that doesn’t paint him in a good picture to me. We hang out until the afternoon hunt listening to the guide jabber about all of his hunting accomplishments. I get being proud of what you’ve done but dang it got a little excessive. I’d also like to mention that the hunt we agreed on had advertised we could shoot a couple does if we wanted to. I asked the guide and he said he would have to check on it and let me know which he never did. I asked at least three more times with no real response. The second afternoon arrives and we are dropped off at our blinds. I didn’t see any deer and my buddy saw three does. That night was a repeat of the night before eat dinner have a few beers and go to bed. The next morning we head out for our last sits. We saw maybe 5 does between the both of us. Now here is where my real complaint comes in. The hunt was $2500 a piece so $5000 total. I had paid 50% up front as a deposit and I had it since we had no actual opportunity that’s what it would end up being. Which I would say is fair, however the owner of the operation calls and informs me that I owe the remaining $2500. I argued that we had no opportunity. I was told it’s a free range property and more or less it is what is. I was not happy, I reached out a couple times and have gotten very minimal response. The key take Ways from this are we shared a 5400 acre ranch with a bunch of hog hunters. The “guide” I’m fairly certain had never been to the ranch before. No communication about whether we could shoot a doe even though the add says we can. And the fact we paid $5000 for a glorified camping trip. Take this for what it is but I don’t want others to end up in the same predicament.

Did you check any references prior to booking?

Why are there about 50 random A’s in your post? It’s hard to read. Sorry this happened to you. There’s a “rebate the day lease” forum this needs to be posted in.

No I checked there site out and it seemed legit. However it really does fall on me for not doing better research. As far as why are there so many As. I have no clue.

It was a cut and paste from somewhere else, and the formatting from the original didn't translate exactly the same. OP's first post on TBH, for whatever that's worth.

Not picking on you if it was just a couple I wouldn’t have asked. Thanks again for the heads up.

It’s all good Just wanted to give a heads up to others about this place. My guess is I won’t be the last to have an experience like I did.

Was it a guaranteed opportunity hunt?

As Shane said the formatting is due to copy/paste and not looking what was translated. I suspect this is not the only forum that the OP posted the review.

I don't want to slam the OP, but it is hunting. I can recall a lot of hunts sitting and seeing little. No idea if this property had a good deer selection or not.

Looking at their website, $2500 per person for a management hunt so $5000 total for 2 hunters. Not sure why you believe that the $2500 covered 2 hunters unless you had a different deal.

The website also lists a price for additional doe or hogs.. If you had a different ad that said you could shoot a doe then I'm not sure why you didn't. Did you see hogs?

I much prefer places that have daily fees and kill fees. That way you don’t waste $5,000 on a weekend without a shot opportunity

This actually wasn’t a copy and paste. And how would feel about paying $5000 for no opportunity? I get it’s free range and I don’t hold that against them. However it seems scetchy to have 8 plus hunters on one property at a time. And the add I had seen said a doe and a hog was included. Not the same as their site. And no we did not see any hogs. Honestly I’m not really here to argue about this. Take my post for what it is. If you think it’s fair by all means go there. But the way it all went down made me feel pretty swindled.

Sorry you had a bad experience but did you expect to have the entire 5400 acres to yourself?

10 hunters on 5400 acres doesn’t sound out of line to me at all. It actually sounds pretty good.

$2500 with no guarantees and only up to a 140 seems crummy to begin with! I think you can kill a management deer on the King for $3500. Sorry for the bad experience but I’d shop a little more the next time. Live and learn, I have made a few mistakes in the past!

Most places I’ve talked to don’t run hog hunters during deer season. No I wasn’t expecting to be alone necessarily. But there was a lot of activity we could see and hear from our stands.
