I enjoy the thread & different perspectives. I try to look at the whole picture and there are always pros, cons & risk
I’m not a day trader. The transaction fees + capital gains + loss of future dividend reinvestment opportunities isn’t worth it for me.
I’m focused on long term growth, dollar cost averaging & compounding

I like ETFs because they are more favorable on capital gains when sold, low management costs relative to NAV.

I wish I had that crystal ball though

Maybe a slight derail, but along the same lines.

Anyone put $$$ into I Series Bonds? Seems like a low risk, fairly liquid (compared to other bonds) inflation protection, even if for only a small amount each year.

I don't pay capital gains when I sell and the fees with etrade is minimal.

So you don’t pay capital gains tax?

Depends on how you define fairly liquid. Ready the fine print for sure. But can be a safe investment and good current yield. Depending on your time horizon a s&p 500 index fund still may yield more.

Anybody looking at the semiconductor industry for potential investment? I know members of congress were looking at profiting by buying stock in those companies.

What about green energy companies? Anyone have specific names?

I am not a proponent of government funding incentives for green energy but the current bill that will probably pass soon is going to fund growth in both sectors.

That's not it, silly. All my etrade is in rollovers and other retirement accounts. Geez.....SMH.

Do you know if the 10 K limit is per calendar year?

I believe it is per year per person.
