I’m also curious why it became the school’s responsibility to feed kids? If you can’t afford kids, do the rest of the world a favor, and don’t reproduce.
I'm not opposed to the 4 day work week and I'm not opposed to the 4 day school week. My kids learn more these days than I ever remember. They are smart as heck and still have tons of down time.

If my Daughter tells me she's going to be watching movies and has nothing on a Friday, I'm picking her up to hang out.

I dont mind feeding kids though. I dont think it should be a responsibility of the school, but I think it's a good thing. Kids cant choose who raises em.

I did read the article a while back about Athens moving their school days. Makes a lot of sense to try and get quality teachers to stick around.

Good luck to yall! Like has been mentioned, those interest rates aint going lower.

It doesn't flow with the rest of the economy and if given a voucher in that situation I'd pull my funding.

Minutes vs days? Retention of material has a capacity limited by minutes. The brain actually benefits from rest and repetition. Either way the scores are already trash this is the death song of public schooling and a voucher would be the final nail.

Please tell me what experience you have with ANYTHING you are talking about. You sound quite “woke” in your ramblings.

How dare a school inconvenience a parent and make them watch their own kids.

Name calling is a sign of losing an argument.

Main point is you can't ask parents to subsidize another day off for teachers and students. The states that kick Texas' *** are going full time. The countries that kick our *** and put out more engineers go six days a week and summers. Less isn't more here, don't contribute to the dumbing down of society or do it in your own yard.

Let me know when you are in ATX I'd like to finish this up in person.

your words, "the brain actually benefits from rest and repetition." do we need more school (so we can all be engineers) or less?

you have also said that public school today isnt good, so why do our kids need more of it? i agree with you, and if i can get my kid out on mondays to go help in the welding shop my buddy owns, or clean new home builds for another friend of mine, or go sit in a deer stand or hit the pond behind the house, then i am going to do it.

My main point is that this places financial burden on parents who don't have flexibility or funds. This isn't controversial.

I'll clarify my position since you seem genuine. I think schools can be way better. When I look across the world the kids getting the best scores go 6 days a week and lots of after school instruction. When I see my state trailing the pack domestically and calling for four days and seeing top paying jobs filled by folks not from here I disagree with current curriculum and policy. Private schools out rank consistently I believe it is because of curriculum.

Yes we need more engineers, tradesmen and DOers.
