Respect your friend’s responsibility as a landowner. He needs to be a good neighbor, you don’t and should not interfere with that relationship. Plenty of other water to fish in Texas.

Goodness- just got back to this- sorry y’all. That should have read, my friend hasn’t ever asked permission- he is in pretty good relationship with the neighbor but has never asked. My friend made the comment that on his river property people fish all the time on the river but never get out on the banks- I was just wondering if that was legal on private ponds also? I used dictation while driving and didn’t proofread- my apologies. Hope I can still be your friends

This will be a good one to find out who skips to the end of a thread without reading through [emoji23]

A river would be considered navigable.

Also, you’re all good, sir. Your reputation precedes you.

Glad to hear we were misunderstanding like I mentioned. . You said it yourself. The key word is “private.” Navigable lakes and rivers are not the same as private ponds. If your friend doesn’t mind then why don’t you go ask the neighbor? He may be more open to allowing you to fish it once he knows you’re already on the pond vs someone off the street asking. Let us know how it goes.

Regardless this thread may be a classic.

Good luck and keep us updated.

If they are in good relation I would be asking about permission not legality
