So Lawson responds by telling the student to ask them a simple question which was, "Let's imagine that you wake up tomorrow morning and its suddenly illegal to be a Christian. What evidence could we find to sentence you? We're going to bring in your girlfriend/wife, your siblings, your parents, your co-workers, and your boss and see what they have to say. Will they have enough against you to convict you? Will there be enough evidence that you really are a Christian?"

I’ve been in pretty deep study of “cultural Christianity” for several years now. And have heard it said and believe it with every fiber that the hardest person to reach… in the one sitting in the church bench. The one with all the head knowledge…. But still doesn’t KNOW Jesus Christ

      Yes! Absolutely!

I see a lot of people who say they are Christian but don't try to rid the sin in their lives or feel convicted by sin because it is cool to get drunk, curse, stay angry, get revenge, etc. Or they are closet Christians - only living in Christ in the closet because they fear what someone might ask. Or both.

I know lots of good people but I really do not know if all of them know Jesus. The ones that say, "my evangelism is my life" upset me, too. Because if they saw themselves rightly, they would fear that people would be led astray. Speak to people and frame the picture of your life correctly. My picture is not perfect, but I hope I can tell the narrative that I'm still working on it.

Too many times when we are confronted by a brother or sister in Christ of our sins, we take a "who are you to judge me" attitude when we should instead be saying thank you!

These posts right here are a good picture of what I think we are told to do and how we are to live! I'm going to use these as a complete story summary in a future lesson for my Bible Study class!
      Thank You All!!
Tracey, thank you especially for posting up this thread!!

A quote attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. You should preach a sermon every day. If necessary, speak.

If someone asks me that it’s usually bc they want to tell me how good of one they are.

I tell them I prefer to just remain their friend, and we don’t have to preach anything to eachother.

And it doesn’t end until we are at the feet of Jesus

Yea a hard question for most!

I listened to a sermon a few years ago a older preacher said
Can the world tell that you are different? Or do blend in?
If the world cannot see that you are different then Houston we have a problem!
Has there need a change of life??
Read the parable in Mathew 13 the Sower

I've only been asked that question by complete strangers wanting me to go to their church. Always thought it as a rude question myself but to each his own. It's really nobodys business but Gods.

Really my first thought when I hear that question is "Have you found Jesus yet Gump?"

"I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for him sir."

thank you for this topic and discussion. It is one that we should all be thinking more about these days. Is there enough evidence to convict me of being a Christian? We should all do some soul searching on that.

Good point…but God made it the believers business when He commanded us to to love Himself and love others.

But I get your push back…it just doesn’t match up with the teachings.

                          Blessings

My first thought about that post is what Jesus told Peter when Peter had his own thoughts of "how it should go"...
                            "Get thee behind me Satan..."

None of your business. Worry about yourself.

I have been asked if I have been "SAVED"!

And I wonder why its so important for people to ask someone these questions?

Is it really necessary for you to know?

Sir, it is important to anyone who has a relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ because He specifically told his followers to:
Mat 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

This is the final message to his Disciples (followers, believers, etc.) before He ascended to the Father in Heaven. It's called The Great Commission and is what Christians are bound to do.
Throughout the New Testament Jesus and His Apostles (such as Paul) taught us that all manner of persecution will come our way because of this. At this point, this is where you fit in... Some will hear the Word and receive it... Others not so much. It is not ours to decide that or even worry about who receives the Word or not, only to seek out those who do not have the Word and deliver It. I'm truly sorry that you take such offense at it.
