Dolly Parton, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

I don’t have to tell most of y’all the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has plenty of folks that don’t play “rock and roll.” Imo this has made the HoF a joke.

Dolly Parton was nominated this year. The following is her response.

Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out. I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again - if I'm ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do! My husband is a total rock 'n' roll freak, and has always encouraged me to do one. I wish all of the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!

I hope she turned them down because she doesn’t play rock and roll. If that’s the case then I say good for her.

If her "style" of music or inspirations are/was influenced by Rock/Blues/etc..., then ok. Otherwise she did right by bowing out. As many others should have as well.

I remember couples skate only, ladies choice and it would be "Islands in the Stream" by Dolly and Kenny. More disco than country but still not close to being rock.

I thought so before and this confirms what I believed, Dolly Parton is a class act.

          My thoughts?
Can't stand to hear her sing. Or speak.
          I'm sure she's a nice person.

Dolly is a pretty smart promoter. I'm sure she had a couple good reasons.

              Brute,
I wouldn't put it exactly like that, but even back in her early days, I always said she's a lot better at singing duo's than solo... Her and just about any of her male singing partners over the years sound so much better than her singing almost anything by herself...
Now her voice, that's like long nails on a chalkboard for me too!

Ted's music sucks. Dolly on the other hand is a class act and has a few good songs.

I read an article about this and she seemed classy. Said something about her being rock but that it might inspire her to finally record a rock album that she has wanted to. Partly because her husband is a huge rock fan. And at that time she could be nominated only if she deserved it.

I don’t care for her her music but she seems pretty legit especially compared to a lot of today’s standards.

Straight out of Dolly’s mouth “ it would be like putting AC/DC in the country music hall of fame.”

                          GOOD FOR HER! Much respect!

“Rock & Roll Hall of Fame won't pull Dolly Parton from ballot: 'We are in awe of Dolly”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has declined Dolly Parton's request to pull her nomination and says the voters will decide if she gets in.

This ^^^^ is from a USA Today article. I guess she’s gonna be on the ballot if she wants to or not.

Again proving the Rock and Roll HoF is a joke.

Because they considered her? Shame on you RNR HOF For considering!! Lol smh
