Go to Louies right off the square. The weather is nice and you can drink a cold beer and he can look at the women.

I graduated from SWT in 1994 & have been to most that is mentioned. Herbert’s, Alvin Ords & Hays County BBQ is all good. I went to Grins about 2 months ago & I was highly disappointed. It was not the same as I had remembered.

Hays county for bbq. Alvin Ords for best sandwich on the planet. Tap room for a burger. Cafe on the square for breakfast.

            Oh…and Garcia’s > Herbert’s all day.

              No. It's not.

If you add chile con carne and onions ti the cheese enchiladas you'll get the best plate of mexican food on earth.

Agree with BOB...Herbert’s is much better Mexican food than Garcia’s. If you have time, drive an extra 10 minutes towards New Braunfels and go to Clear Springs restaurant. They have some of the best onion rings and fried fish that you’ll ever eat.

Ivar's River Pub, Foods Ok not a bad place for a cold beer and people watch on the river.

Thanks for the recommendations. We ate at Grins, it was…meh. Chicken was good, CFS was OK, French fries were still cold in the middle. The Texas State campus is beautiful!

Followed up that tour with a tour of A&M and ate at Dixie Chicken. It was a full day and a half!

Not meh if you order right.

Cheese enchiladas with chile con carne and onions is good. Herbert's is far superior though.

                        CFS with queso.

My wife says they have the best tortilla soup in the world.

So... this Enchilada plate you keep speaking of... You order it that way at Garcia's or Herberts? Or both?

I like both places, though both are usually more crowded than I want to deal with at lunch.

Never realized you were in Wimberley. Howdy, Neighbor!

Y'all all named some great places.

One of the best and nicest places used to be Palmers. Not sure if it's still opened or not?

Both. You have to add chile con carne for 1.50 otherwise you get regular mexican enchiladas not the classic tex mex plate. Garcia's is like many other tex mex spots. Herbert's is like o other.
