I vote Whelen as well. It’s got the old school cool and can run the heavies out there plenty stout. Shot a nilgai last week with mine…

But any other mid-bore or large 30 cal would round it out nicely as well.

.338 Win Mag

I have a 375 Hairell & Hairell in Ruger #1 Tropical. It’s a lot of gun.

I’d probably buy a 300 Weatherby (if I could find good ammo for it) or 300 Win Mag just because it so versatile and ammo is readily available.

I would buy a 300 Win Mag. Same as others have said, good long range gun, will kill a moose, nilgai, and a bunch of African stuff too.

And you can buy the shells.

from the list you gave, the 25-06,,,, off of the list the 45-70, very nice cartridge, and a 204 ruger would be a priority

Maybe a .35 Whelan , 338 Win mag, or a 375 H&H.
Looking at your list of cartridges you have rifles chambered for one of these should round you out.

If I were any where close to hunting the deer of a lifetime I would not have the Hornet with me. I will be hunting a Yukon moose this September and if I can’t get it done with a bow it will be the 7 mag that does the job. It amazes me that elk and moose get killed every year with archery frontal shots but it takes a 375 to kill one with a rifle. I rarely hunt with a gun but get to watch lots of guys shoot. The guys shooting moderate calibers always seem to be more accurate.

Not even close to the same. Totally different killing mechanisms.
