If I needed to pull real weight often I would probably go with a Ford Diesel for the power but hope Im never in that position. The maintenance costs and reliability from what I have seen are just too high. I have only owned one Ford ( F250 gas ) and just never understood the draw ( again, with the exception of needing power to pull 6000+lbs regularly). Throughout the mid 2000s thru mid 2010s my employer owned a bunch of F250s and they were blowing motors and going through transmissions constantly. It was unreal. They switched to gas Chevys but they just didnt have the power needed. More reliable, but less torque ( obviously).

I pull 2000-6000lb pretty regularly with a 1/2 ton and have had no issues yet. Of course I dont drive like Im on a racetrack like a lot of F250 guys like to do.

In the end, pick your poison, I guess

I’ve driven company trucks for 45 years and have driven them all, ( Chevy, Ford, Dodge).
I averaged 100 to 150 thousand miles on most of them. In later years we put more miles on our trucks. In my experience I’d have to rate them Ford, Dodge, Chevy. Currently driving a 2016 F-150 5.0 with 253,000 miles. Other than regular maintenance I’ve spent 1500.00 on new valve body slenoid pack for the transmission. Again, just my experience with all three.

The new 10 speed tranny with the powerstroke engine is unmatched. Crazy how much power these trucks have stock 👍🏼

I can't imagine how people have such blind loyalty for one brand or absolute / irretrievable disdain for another in a quarter century.

In 25 years who makes the best truck for your needs will change several times in a competitive market.

That blind loyalty only makes sense for someone who is sponsored by a manufacturer, owns a dealership or owns a substantial amount of stock in a company.

                Congratulations

I was once a Chevy fan boy…. Then I bought one. What an epic pile of plastic $&@#. Drove super duty’s since 04’

                6.0….. flawless
6.4…… 1 injector and covered by warranty. Kept 10 years awesome ride
6.7…. Been a great truck so far (my favorite)

Only death wobble I ever experienced was in a gmc
Also have never broke a plastic tailgate handle
                Plastic door handle
Shelled a transmission every 30k miles
Had to drive with 1 headlight
Had to replace every component in a 1/2 ton rated front end
Or high centered on a cat squirrel without 12” lift to clear 225/75 tires. Lol

Chevy ain’t even an option for me anymore. At any price

It's all good fun with the brand loyalty and what not. Congrats on your new ride.

Seriously though, Yes, you will have EXTRA hair on your chest now. Like most GM guys, you probably shaved your chest, arms and legs prior to owning the Ford.

No, it won’t. In my entire adult life I’ve owned two Chevrolets, both of them pieces of crap. I’ll never own another.

Have a 06 Tundra limited 198,000 miles still runs like a scalded speed. Enjoy those payments.

Notice you didn't say "work on" for 25 years.

I had tranny issue with the last 3 trucks. All of those where 1/2 tons. My 3/4 ton truck was the best, this Ford is my first desiel truck I’ve own. And the interior room is head and shoulders above the AT4. My opinion, seen one side by side and super happy with the choice.

I totally disagree with you. Fords are the worst trucks period. If it weren’t for the price of a new truck, I’d get rid of my 2001 F-250 Lariat P/S. It’s only got 350,000 miles and I just had to change the fuel filter for maybe the 5th time!

I have a 2019 Chevrolet 1500 with 68.000 miles on it in my shop right now. Needs cam and lifters. 5.3l engine, it pays 33 hours shop time to do that repair. Glad I’m a ford man myself.
