Does anyone have any tips for catching flounder off the dock (walkway) on the Colorado River where it leads into Matagorda bay? We rent a house there every summer and usually catch sand trout and the occasional speck under the lights but last year I 'accidentally' caught a flounder next to the dock. I'd like to try to target them this year. Live bait or artificial is fine. We'll be there June 13th - 17th.

A speck rig dragged along the bottom will also get it done. Good luck.

It must be on the bottom, they don't come up after it very far usually. If you go with live bait, a Carolina rig with a 1/2oz slip sinker works great. If you can get mud minnows they're probably the best bait for a flounder. Shrimp would be second best.
