Bourbon Street Seafood has always been good, but I haven't been there in about a year. Two or three locations, some Cajun / louisiana style seafood and others as well.
But her sense of taste is more refined than mine.[/QUOTE]
Maybe, maybe not ! My wife is from ND and when we married and moved back down here she didn’t care much for catfish. Now, she’ll slap you away from the table to be first !
Okay, obviously I need to add some detail - this is not for me. I'm looking to get a gift card for my brother and his wife. His wife is from Jamaica and changed her diet a few years ago to only seafood. Brother is working in SA on a contract for several months and she lives in Connecticut. When she visits, they like to go to area restaurants.
Catfish is not in her plan. Me? I could eat my weight in fried catfish and I think she's crazy for not liking it. But her sense of taste is more refined than mine.
If they want to eat at a nice place, with good food, tell them to try the two I suggested. The Reel, does not look like it’s anything special on the outside, but it is a nice place and does have very good seafood. Basically the same with McAdoos, just Cajun style. I think McAdoos changed cooks or something, when they first opened, the food there, I would say was the best seafood I had ever eaten. Now days, it’s very good. I really like food with flavor. I grew up on the coast and am very picky when it comes to seafood. I don’t consider catfish seafood, it’s catfish. The reason I did not throw in Clear Springs Catfish Restaurant. I like their food a lot, but it’s not seafood. Their green beans and mash potatoes, are great. Their steaks are very good, when they have a good cook. As for catfish, theirs is good, but I have a choice of steak or catfish, it will be steak. I don’t like the muddy flavored catfish roulette. I like catfish, but if I get a muddy flavored piece, I am done eating. That’s thing I like about saltwater fish, you won’t get any, with a muddy flavor.
