No deer, just a few hogs this evening. I’ll try again in the morning

My biggest buck was killed at Firstpoint when the wind was blowing so hard, it blew over my brushed in blind twice.

I was in the tree yesterday afternoon in Limestone County and was almost skunked until right at sunset my two targets came in but entered in the wood line where i couldn't shoot. They only started moving as the winds died down late in the evening.

At our lease in west Texas, they move when it’s windy. In fact, they are skittish when there is no wind.

When I was younger and hunted east Texas, I would walk the woods on very windy days with the wind in my face. It was amazing how close I got to bedded up deer.

I hate windy conditions.......but I have seen good movement in sheltered areas, like thick hardwood stands on windy days. When I was younger I'd go whenever I could and spent a ton of time in the woods each season. I'm a little more particular about when I go now.

Had planned to be off work today. Wind made me decide to come in. I'll be hunting the weekend with my boy's and me next week.

Sat on the ground yesterday in this mess. Didn’t bother pig movement.
