    Solar Panel

What direction do you face the solar panel. I would think west. Is that correct?

No, we face them to the south so that get morning, afternoon and evening sun.

I face mine south. All of the city street lights have their solar panels facing south so I figured that must be best. It's just an assumption that the city engineers know what they're doing, but it I've never had a problem facing them south.

South is the recommended way.....it is the bottom of the U so to speak with the sun rotating from its left all the way across and setting on its right. As the sun goes from the east to the west, the panel facing south is exposed to the direct sun the longest.

Yep, due south. All solar is sized for worst case winter conditions. If a system will fail, it will likely due so in the winter. Since we are in the northern hemisphere, the sun does not go directly overhead in the winter months. Therefore, you face it south for the sun that skirts the southern hemisphere east to west. Sorry, got a little technical...I sell solar for a living. If you need to know what angle to fix it on, let me know the install location and I will tell you.

If you figure the peak sun will be around noon, go south. Then the angle is based on your GPS location...

Get a hold of an engineer and ask them, then get back with us hours later when he's done telling you why.

Hey TBGACScorer, how much does it cost per panel, if you averaged it all out per the panel?

Average is $7/watt installed for home power or commercial power grid-tie systems.
