I vote to eliminate the posts counts. To much useless dribble occurs from those padding their counts. Lets keep this renewed site just bowhunting related from now on.
I VOTE TO ELIMINATE THE POST COUNT. IT SERVES ABSOLUTELY NO USEFUL PURPOSE AND DOES CONTRIBUTE TO USELESS DRIBBLE. IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO READ THROUGH ALL THESE POSTS ON THIS ONE THREAD, AND ONLY A HANDFUL OF THE POSTS ACTUALLY WERE MEANINGFUL OR INSIGHTFUL.
I will probably offend some, and I'm sorry...not trying to do that, but it is laborious to weed through all the jibberish posts to get to a useful and helpful one from someone providing valuable input.
I know it is frustrating for some to start a thread with some excellent info, or requesting assistance, only to have that thread quickly pushed way to the bottom or archived because of so many newer threads about...nothing.
It is not uncommon for some folks to start 5-6 THREADS within an hour or so; are they contributing, asking for assistance, or just wanting to see how many responses they get? These dilute and cover up the meaningful posts.
I just believe the post count encourages the wrong kind of competition that adversly affects this great site/community. The site is a victim of its own success. It is still more fun than a new puppy, but it simply has gotten cumbersome to wade through. Counting posts exacerbates the problem by encouraging numbers rather than quality. Usually it is the relative newbies like me trying to earn a larger rack that posts just posts.
I apologize...I'm seriously not trying to sound holier than thou because I certainly have been guilty of jibberish/dribble/smart arse remarks/etc. due to my tongue being permanently positioned in my cheek.
Letting everyone post their approximate precrash joining date would still provide the salty old veterans (and sweet ladies) the tenure they so ably deserve. Perhaps we could honor the old vets with honorary P&Y's or give TB an honorary Oscar for his __________ performance on Prison Break...maybe that would appease him. (Insert award winning or any other adjective you prefer before performance )
Whatever is decided, it will still work because of the superb people who make this community what it is.

I like the post count. Don't much care for padding, but I like the post count. Other than that, you're right, most of this thread is a bunch of hot air. The post count reminds me that I need to spend more time doing other more important things than post on a message board. Message boards are good, but get abused by some. Some are like *Jack Burton and his CB usage. Folks'll post as some talk; to self elevate and to impress to others how important theirselves (gr) are.
Quality not quanity. Maybe without the post count, post quality will improve. I would like something like a "member since" date. Or backdate the Join date.
Please do away with the post count. I noticed before the crash that there were some members that would post a reply to every single thread. Almost 100% of the time it was a waste! They wouldn't have any useful info, but would say something like, "I don't know. Maybe someone will chime in soon with an answer."
Worthless replys like this waste the boards space and my time. Getting rid of the post count will hopefully keep people from thinking they will win something, make more friends, etc. just because they have the most posts.
