    Ray Hubbard

I know I can Google this... However, want to hear real world answers. Why is it illegal to swim in Ray Hubbard?

First time I've ever heard this.

Do not really know the answer.

So, if there is no swimming, can you be in the water to ski?

I see folks doing it. I was out fishing this weekend. For a quick getaway. While having a drink I was talking to a local. His wife said something about it. Guy looks at his wife and laughed. She pulled something up on Google. He said well. Guess they better start writing tickets. I'm not stopping

Sure it's not at/near the power plant water intake only

My daughter brought that up last weekend but I don’t remember why she said it. Maybe because of all the trees and old roads in it? But I think you can tube for the harbor concerts. And party cove can be crazy busy.

The lake is a breeder for a flesh eating bacteria or some type of amoeba that gets inside nose/ears, can't remember which.
Water activities are ok since you are only in water for a brief time. Swimmers stay underwater longer and increase risk of injection/infection.

It least that is what I have heard for 20+ years.

Used to wake board up and down the 66 bridge. Technically that's not swimming.

There are some big trees in there, especially around Barnes Bridge ramp.
Lake filled before they expected and some trees had to be cut at water line.
Good fishing then, used to go after school and wade out there and catch bass and crappie.
Had a terrifying boat ride there one day. Fishing around the point up in a cove from BB ramp.
Returning to ramp we discovered the wind had come up. 16' boat between swells 18' apart.
Deeper than the boat. Could see the big ole stumps pop up in the troughs as we slid thru.
Then had to load boat with swells perpendicular to trailer. Fun, fun, fun.

I had a great time fishing all the stumps and trees. Fished both sides of the I30 bridge. And between 66 and 30. I was a little worried about the stumps I didn't see. But no issues. And I didn't run very fast. As I normally Don't until I learn the lake. Not to mention. Was not driving a boat I own.

Been under water for 51 years. That forest North of I30 still there????

Seems like most of them ought to be rotted away.

Ray Hubbard is the property of Dallas, the lake was created for potable water for Dallas. They call it a reservoir for that reason and not a lake. The word reservoir has a completely different meaning pertaining to a body of water. Hence the reason for no swimming rule, although not very enforceable.
